Date Night!

Bob and I drove to Columbia, about 30 miles away, to have dinner and to see a movie. We decided to eat at Hu Hot Mongolian Grill. Have you ever been to one of those? You select the ingredients for your dinner at the raw bar... frozen thin sliced chicken, beef, pork, fish, tofu and every vegetable known to man. There are several kinds of noodles, too. Then you head over to the sauces, 18 different ones, and create your sauce. I use 7 ladles of sauce including lime juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, hoison sauce, and others.

The fun part is when you take it up to be cooked. There is a huge round stone that is very hot with several cooks around it. The cooks take your bowl of raw food and throw it on this grill. It steams and hisses and cooks while these cooks sing, tease and generally have a good time. You continue to walk around the stone while other people's meals come off the stone. They clean the stone with hot water each time a meal comes off. That is a sight, too! Magically, they never mess up whose meal is whose. You get your steaming hot food, top it with the fun toppings you can select from and then head back to your table, where there is a soup or salad waiting for you as well. YUMMO.

Here is their website: Hu Hot

I took a cell phone photo which I will try to post later. Until then, enjoy the website and have a happy Saturday!

As you can see below, I am trying to make a signature for my blog. All I can get to appear is what you see below. Any help out there in blogworld?

  1. Sounds delicious! Did you notice that they haven't captured the territory of PA yet? What's up with that?

  2. Sorry you can't sleep! If you had an IM account - we could chat. No sense the 2 of us should be not sleeping at this hour and not chatting.

    Love,

  3. I guess I'm not the only one awake in the middle of the night! We have a restaurant like that here but I don't think it's the same name. I haven't been there in years but now I want to go.

  4. I've never been, but my kids have been with my parents. My oldest loved it.
Hopefully, one of these days we'll have a free night so we can go!

Hello, Terri ~ So glad you stopped by. Yes, you can add Silver Bell to your links. I drive through Jefferson City several times a year on my trek home to Kansas.
