Bustopher 1994-2010

Our cat Bustopher passed away this morning from symptoms of old age. Bustopher was a complex cat, he loved his family and hated strangers, even if he had met them before. He used to chase my sister on two legs when she would come to visit, trying to scare her (he did). He hated going to the vets. They would come out to the car to give him his shots. He loved Dakota, our Westie, who passed away a couple of years ago. He wasn't terribly fond of our new dogs, Truman and Wilson, although I saw him sleeping curled up with Truman a time or two. As a kitten he was skittish about everything. He'd jump straight up in the air when the phone rang. His favorite thing to do was to lay on me. Really. No matter where I was sitting, he was either on my lap or around my neck. If I was laying on my side, he was on my hip. At night he'd sneak up by our heads and sleep between our pillows. He also would try to sneak up on our food or drinks... while we were sitting right there! He could move with incredible stealth, even up to Saturday, when he did it to Ashley. We will miss his incredibly soft fur and his big black eyes. Even though I complained about his constant need to be on me, I will miss his company.

  1. I miss him so much. When we were all there on Saturday and he was going from person to person, I think he was saying good-bye.

  2. Oh Terri!!! :( I am so sorry about the loss of Bustopher, and I just totally teared up more when I read Ashley's comment about how he was going around saying his goodbyes. I believe she is right. Our furbabies are very intuitive. They just know. Take comfort in the fact that he has been reunited with his beloved Dakota and they can romp and play and be young again together at the Rainbow Bridge where they will watch over all of you, your sweet furry angels in heaven. Sending you and your family BIG {{{{{hugs}}}}}} xoxo

Bustopher the pretty kitty was super fly! I liked his personality and spunk. He liked me and he liked my mom even more, which is funny. Dakota will love having Bustopher around, and I know you will miss him. I bet the boys will too! Hugs my friend. Love you all.

  9. I read this terrible news on Ashley's blog! Terri, I'm so very sorry.

This just breaks my heart - especially the part about Bustopher going from person to person, saying his goodbyes :( :(

Animals seem so much more intuitive than people in these situations. I'm sure it broke his heart to have to go, but rest assured that he'll be there with your darling Dakota in Heaven over the Rainbow Bridge eager to be reunited with all of you again someday.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my furbabies that have passed. It's never easy...

    Sending hugs,
    Judy

  13. Bustopher...what a great name! And he sounds as if he loved you, Terri, most especially you. There are times when you will certainly miss him and he's always going to provide a great story, but I think you may be surprised by the relief his passing provides. As much as I've loved an older pet, it has always good to be able to say goodbye and move on. They remain in my memory and I can smile and laugh at their antics with no passing of time. It must've been kind of funny to see Bustopher after your sister!

I see that I have some catching up to do...

  14. So sorry to hear about Bustopher...
I know of a great big cat that would love to come live with you, if you are interested. He pees on comforters and couches, but I'm sure that you could look past this small flaw;)
