I used my cooling rack to lift them from the cookie sheet which means I don't have to turn them and the drying time is shorter.\u0026nbsp; I place the sheets of fresh basil in the oven and set the timer for 45 minutes.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003EAfter the 45 minutes are up, I check the leaves to see if they are crunchy.\u0026nbsp; If they are bendable, they are not ready!\u0026nbsp; If they need more time, I usually do it in 10-minute intervals. Once the leaves are fully dried, I let them cool. I place them in an air-tight container, without crushing the leaves.\u0026nbsp; Why?\u0026nbsp; Because uncrushed leaves retain more of the essential oils and that is what flavors your food. It really doesn't matter if you buy white or yellow because both are so very good!\u0026nbsp; It is delicious grilled on the BBQ when the kernels get a bit of char, but sometimes you just don't want to fight the heat.\u0026nbsp; To switch up the flavorings, play with flavored butter.
