Wineology Ribbon Cutting in Saint Charles

Saint Charles welcomed a new business to the area, and right on New Town Boulevard, just minutes where I live. Say welcome to Wineology and owner Lori Cheatam!

I was excited to be invited to the ribbon-cutting event and learning more about Wineology.  Lori has a background in Missouri wines, having worked with Augusta Winery in the past. She loves Missouri wines and wanted a place to feature them. She has done an outstanding job in decorating the space, using local Missouri talent everywhere she could. Lori has an active Facebook page with many events.

Entering in the shop you walk into a tiny store packed with Missouri wines, some specialty items, and a few soft drinks and water. A few gift items are available and this is where the cash register and greeter are located.

Further into the shop is a nice-sized seating area. To the left are tables and chairs, to the right, there is a nice sofa, loveseat, and tables to sit at.  To the back right is a bar where you can order a Build-Your-Own charcuterie tray.  The offerings are listed on a chalkboard right on the bar.  You can also get a wine cocktail or buy a sample flight of wines.  During the ribbon-cutting, Augusta Winery was pouring 5 samples for $6.

Missouri wines and even a distillery were featured at the ribbon-cutting.  Jowler Creek, Missouri's first green winery,  McKelvey's Vineyard located on a historic estate, and Nobleton's Distilling House, featuring Missouri distilled rum, were there pouring samples and talking about their spirits.

We first tried Nobleton's Distilling House's rums.  We tasted the Duckett 103 Rhum, the Duckett Curacao Noir, and the Golden Rhum. I fell in love with the Duckett Curacao Noir and my husband, the Duckett 103 Rhum.  We left with one bottle of each.  There are recipes on their webpage and I cannot wait to give them a try.  Lori likes to use the Duckett Curacao Noir in her margaritas!

We can't wait to visit McKelvey's Vineyard.  They had the first Missouri wine that my husband actually loved. It's called Twelker and is a red blend. We both enjoyed it and now want to go and take our teardrop and camp on site.

I personally am excited about Jowler Creek.  I write about wines weekly on this blog, and I want to go and do a vineyard visit. They are the first green winery, meaning they were the first winery to be certified by Missouri Agricultural Stewardship Assurance Program (ASAP) across five categories.  Look for me to write more about Jowler Creek in the future.

I'm looking forward to more events at Wineology.  I think Lori has hit a grand slam with her business here.
