National Little Free Library Week at Our Good Life

Two years ago, we installed our Little Free Library thinking it would simply be a charming way to share books with our neighborhood. What I did not expect was how much joy, connection, and community it would bring into our lives. Over time, that little box of books has become so much more than a place to exchange stories. It has become a gathering place, a conversation starter, and one of the sweetest parts of our home.

I have met neighbors I may never have otherwise known. Families stop while walking their dogs. Children carefully choose books while parents chat nearby. Visitors from outside our neighborhood have told me they intentionally seek out Little Free Libraries wherever they travel, and I completely understand why. There is something magical about them. Ours has its own personality and charm, and I still smile every time I see someone opening the little door to discover what is inside. One of my favorite parts has been connecting with other Little Free Library owners and sharing books, ideas, and encouragement with people who believe, like I do, that books help create stronger communities.

National Little Free Library Day is May 17, and I plan to celebrate all week long. I will be restocking shelves, sharing favorite reads, and enjoying every little moment that comes with being part of this beautiful movement centered around literacy, curiosity, and kindness. Here are the activities for the week:

Sunday: Instagram and Blog posts

Monday:  New books and Bingo cards distributed.  First BINGO card turned in to our gray box on the front porch wins a prize!

Tuesday:  Sticker Day

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday:  Restock Day and prize winners arrounced!

So if you are nearby, stop by and grab a book. And if you happen to see me sitting on the porch, I hope you will stop and chat for a while, too.

I'd love some LFL love, in the way of emails (terri@terristeffes.com) or handwritten notes for my junk journal!
