Here’s Exactly Why There’s No Wrong Way to Age

As everyone knows, you can’t stop aging, you can’t stop aging skin, and there’s no such thing as the Fountain of Youth. But even so, it doesn’t change the fact that something a little weird has been happening, just this major emphasis on anti-aging. Now, aging used to just be normal, just widely accepted that it’s just a part of life. Like, people got older, life moved on, and no one was having a meltdown over a tiny forehead line at 22.

But now TikTok (well, just everywhere online, honestly) has everyone acting like aging is a disease that needs curing. It’s really sad to say, but Gen Z is already stressing over “preventative Botox.” There’s actual small kids, Gen Alpha, that are buying anti-aging skincare when they literally doné need it. Social media really created this fear around looking older, like if you don’t freeze your face in time, you’ve failed some sort of beauty mission (or just worth in general, sadly).

And yeah, obviously it’s exhausting. Because aging is literally the most normal thing a human can do.  Like, there really isn’t an alternative here; you’re going to get old.

Aging Doesn’t have to Look One Certain Way

Alright, so here’s the thing: a lot of people forget while everyone is yelling online about “age naturally” or “fix everything early”. But you absolutely need to understand that aging isn’t one style, one approach, or one look. It’s not some moral choice; it’s all personal. Like, yeah, some people are all about embracing every wrinkle, silver hair, and little change because it tells a story and shows a life that’s actually been lived. And of course, something like that sounds absolutely beautiful.

But it’s not like everyone thinks this way (which is fine, to each their own), maybe it’s a little refresh, and that’s also completely fine,  maybe it’s skincare, maybe it’s a new haircut and dye that just makes them feel more them, or maybe it’s chatting with a plastic surgeon for a tiny tweak here or there that helps them feel confident when they look in the mirror.  Yeah, that’s a lot of maybes, right?

But overall, the point here is that there’s no “right” or “wrong”. It’s just… their choice. And honestly, feeling comfortable in your own skin is way more important than following some random internet rulebook (enforced by 20-year-olds being afraid of 30) about what aging “should” look like.

Confidence isn’t Specifically About Approval

Alright, so here’s something else to think about: aging nicely isn’t about trying to look younger forever. Sure, that’s nice and all, but it’s literally not possible to stop aging. It’s more like, okay, how to keep feeling like yourself as time moves on. Actually, some people hit their 40s and 50s and feel hotter, happier, and way more confident than they ever did in their early twenties. Like, life starts making sense, you care less about the silly stuff, and you finally know who you are.

The Only Wrong Way to Age is by Judging

The real problem isn’t skincare or treatments or “doing too much” or “not doing enough”. Well, it’s the judgment. Yeah, it’s so bad how much judgment there is (from all age groups). Well, it’s the judgment. Yeah, it’s so bad how much judgment there is. People are so loud about how others should age, and it’s honestly ridiculous. Again, like what was mentioned already, aging is personal; it’s your journey.
