Breast Cancer Update

Yum

I am in the middle of reconstruction. The expanders are in and I am going in about every 8-10 days and having injections of saline put in to enlarge the breast cavity. I have another surgery planned May 12 to put in the implants. Once the implants are in place, there could be additional surgery needed if the breasts are not symmetrical, or if they are lumpy. The injection days, Hans and Franz Days is what I call them, are days that I am sore, and I usually don't sleep well that night, but usually within 24 hours I am relatively pain free and can easily go about my life.

My last injection could be Monday! Dr. Howard will decide then if I need more injections. I am hoping I will be done but I don't really feel like I am back to my size before the mastectomies.

  4. Good morning .... I am so relieved to know these next stages in reconstruction aren't horrible for you. My niece had her first saline injections week before last and by now I imagine she has had at least another. I am unbelievably proud of both Terri & Teri!!

  8. Good progress! I'm thinking of you! My mom went through cancer surgery on both breasts, but she had lumpectomies and radiation. She's doing okay but the meds are bothering her a lot, and her skin is bad...

  11. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to find your blog b/c I would click on your name when you left a comment on my blog & it would not take me to your blog. So tonight, I saw your blog post on my sidebar and saw it was you. I am following 300+ and can never remember whose name goes with which blog. I'm so glad I've found you again. And, I had no idea you were on Facebook nor did I know you had breast cancer. I'm so sorry you've had to go through that. I hope the implants go well. Do keep in touch. I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. LOL! XO, Penny/Tardevil
