The third book in Laura Thomas' romantic suspense series, "Ribbons of Guilt" has everything to do with mystery and love. How does betrayal come to fruition, how does one end up trusting again, how does one love after an unfaithful partnership: that is just a few of the many subjects this book tells through tears, deception, intensity, exploration and suspense.
Even though you can read "Ribbons of Guilt" by itself, I encourage you to start from the beginning with the first book, "Stitches from the Heart," followed by "Forked Road Mayhem." You are better off knowing the series. Laura Thomas is an amazing author, that captures and thrills the reader from the first page and keeps them turning pages till the very end.
Together with the better-known elements of a romance story, Laura also brings emotional depth into "Ribbons of Guilt." And even though the mystery is the first thing that comes to mind, romance still finds a way into the middle of it. But it's better known as marriage, that Laura also brings into the storyline. Not just a piece of paper, but coming together as a family.
One of the themes that shines through the entire book is forgiveness, because without forgiving there is no grace. And forgiving is not easy. But once you have tasted grace, only then can you forgive for real. Whether that is forgiving the other, or forgiving yourself. Redemption can never come without forgiving.
Last but definitely not least, "Ribbons of Guilt" is a great outcome to the end of a series. It is the conclusion of a journey that is best taken step by step. Going with the characters through the ups and downs, getting to know them better and better just makes it impossible not to feel like a family.
If you like a good clean Christian romantic suspense book, I highly recommend "Ribbons of Guilt!" Also if you like a storyline, filled with suspense, love and forgiving, don't miss out on this one. Even though it is the third book in the series, it can be read by itself, but I wouldn't recommend that. Reading the series is what really catches the overall objective of the stories of Laura Thomas.
