3 Easy Care Plants for the Home

There are a lot of great reasons to add some plants to your home. It’s one of the easiest ways to make your home more beautiful by bringing the outdoors in, and it’s also great for your health. Studies show that plants in the home improve your mood and increase productivity. They also clean the air and get rid of pollutants, so if you don’t have plants in your home already, you should do.

The problem is, not everybody is a keen gardener and sometimes, they just don’t have the time to dedicate to caring for difficult plants and having a load of dead plants sitting around the house doesn’t exactly create a welcoming atmosphere. But there are plenty of varieties out there that are simple to care for so even if you’re terrible at looking after plants, you’ll struggle to kill them. These are some of the best easy-care plants for your home.

Succulents

Succulents are so popular at the moment and that’s probably because they’re easy to care for once you know how and there are so many great varieties. They tend to be quite unique looking plants and you can mix and match different ones in the same pots to create some great displays. Succulents don’t like too much water so, during the summer, you can usually get away with watering them every couple of weeks if they’re in direct sunlight. In the winter, you might have to do it a little more often but it still should only be around once or twice a week at most. If you do forget to water them, they won’t die out very easily and you can leave them for months without water. They’ll bounce back well once you do remember to start watering them again as well so you can’t really go too far wrong with them.

Phalaenopsis Orchid

People often get the wrong idea about orchids and they’re often considered a very difficult plant to look after. However, that’s not actually the case and the Phalaenopsis orchid, in particular, is not that difficult to keep alive once you know how. Most people struggle because they treat it like a normal plant but as long as you do a bit of research into how to look after them, you should be fine. They’re a beautiful plant and they last months, which is a lot easier than buying flowers and changing them every few weeks when they die.

The ZZ Plant is one of the most robust plants there is and it can go for months without being watered at all and still be fine. In fact, they often thrive when you just leave them to do their own thing. They have thick, rubbery leaves that can easily withstand the cold and they don’t need that much light at all so they’ll be fine wherever you put them in the house and the cold weather doesn’t bother them.
Owning house plants doesn’t have to be a chore, just get these easy-care varieties and you’ll hardly have to do anything with them.
