Myrtle Beach For Foodies: The Ultimate Guide

For foodies, there is no greater thrill than to visit a new place and sample all of the delights it has on offer, and one area where the is absolutely the case is the famous Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Of course, any food fan worth their salt won't want to miss out on any of the most memorable meals and bites on offer during their trip. That is why I have come up with the ultimate guide below.

Seafood

With Myrtle Beach being on the coast, it will come as no surprise that it's well known for its delicious and fresh-caught seafood. In fact, there are a wealth of places that you can go to gorge on seafood, with most restaurants having at least a few fish dishes on their regular menu.

Of course, there are some iconic dishes that you absolutely cannot miss. One, in particular, being the oyster roast at Dirty Don's. An event which happens mainly during the colder months. Although they have a pretty special menu of seafood all year round as well as some delicious cakes for dessert. Something that any avid baker will not want to miss.

Then there are fantastic crab cakes at the Gulf Stream Cafe. A place where you can sit and take in the rather spectacular sunsets over the bay as well.

Cocktails

If you are looking for cocktails that come along with good food, then you can do a lot worse than heading to the happy hour in North Myrtle Beach that Greg Norman Australian Grille runs. There you will find, from 4.00- 6.00pm, some pretty special Manhattans and Martinis. All served alongside delicious bites such as Teriyaki-Glazed Salmon Bites and Shrimp Tacos. Oh, and the Loaded Cheesy Chip Dip come hot or cold with homemade potato chips are not to be missed!

Breakfast

The mark of a perfect place to eat for most foodies is a good breakfast, and one of the best places to get one in Myrtle Beach is according to popular opinion the Sea Captain's House.

OK, so at least half the appeal here is the adorable white seafront cottage that the restaurant is set in. Although their crab cakes benedict take some beating as well. Oh, and for blueberry fans the pancakes are a must-try.

Burgers

One of the most fun places to get a burger in Myrtle Beach is at River City Cafe. Packed full of charm this is a space where you can get a decent flowering onion, as well as some new twists on the traditional burger. You can even munch away on peanuts as you are waiting for your order.

Hotdogs

Lastly, if you are looking for somewhere that is family-friendly and relaxed, and you want a break from all that seafood, then why not try Peaches Corner? Famous for their yummy hotdogs.

In fact, you can get a boulevard footlong dog with chili cheese sauce Fritos and sour cream and a beer all for under $10! Something that makes it a foodie's paradise indeed.
