Lemon Thyme Lemonade

There are few things I enjoy more than my herb garden. I finally got it planted now that warmer days have decided to stay.  One of my favorite herbs is lemon thyme. It's the best of all herbal worlds.  I love it in salads, but I also love this lemonade.  It is perfect for garden parties.

The most common thyme is French thyme and that is what you will find in your supermarket. I like it because it mellows stronger flavors like onion and garlic.  It is super simple and can be made ahead of "thyme."  Lemon thyme is perfect sprinkled on fish or used in the poaching liquid for cooking fish. It is so good on vegetables, too!  Thyme has other flavors, too, like oregano, orange, and pine.

Thyme has a lot of medicinal type uses, such as relieving stress, protects your heart, and helps with respiratory issues. You can read up on thyme by googling Benefit of using Thyme. You will find a lot of resources.

My favorite way to ingest it is in this lemonade. Infusing the thyme into the simple syrup gets a full concentration of the herb and it delicious. I just planted my herb garden this weekend, so my lemon thyme is ready to go!

  4. Your lemonade looks so pretty and refreshing. I knew there was a lemon thyme, but have never grown it, or the other varieties. I always just grow the "supermarket kind". I HAVE to grow some of the other ones now. Your herb garden is so neat and organized, I just have mine planted in buckets. Either way, fresh herbs are the best!

    1. April, I'd plant herbs ANYWHERE just so I can grown them! Ha! That herb garden was a gift to my husband when his dad passed away. We love growing our herbs and thinking about the people who gave this to us.
