5 Tips for Transforming your Bedroom

Bedrooms are very personal space and as an area of our home that we tend to send quite a lot of time in, they deserve some TLC. Whether you’ve had the same bedroom layout for years or simply want to spice things up a bit to fit with your own changing style, here are 5 tips for transforming your bedroom on a budget.

  1. Never underestimate the power of a can of paint

Nothing changes the overall appearance of a space like a new lick of paint. Whether you want to refresh the tired walls you already have or are ready to be bold with a new vibrant color, never underestimate the power of a can of paint. For the price of a paintbrush and some paint you can completely change the look of your bedroom space, and to make your money stretch even further, just paint one feature wall and leave the rest neutral.
  1. Make it comfortable with a new mattress

Visual changes are all well and good, but sometimes the most dramatic changes are the ones that you can’t necessarily see but that are bedroom essentials. The average lifespan of a mattress is just 8 years, and so it’s highly likely that yours has seen better days. If your mattress is old and tired or you’re finding it uncomfortable to sleep on, then treat yourself to a new discount mattress for a softer, more comfortable sleep. Check with the mattress store Everett experts for more advice.
  1. Have a move around

One way to transform your room without spending a cent is to keep everything you already own and to simply move it around into new locations. Try putting the bed at the other side of the room, move your drawers and shelving and play with your space until you have an entirely new bedroom to hang out in. A new bedroom layout can make old furniture feel refreshed and when you get bored of it you can just play shuffle again at no extra cost.
  1. Change your lighting

Lighting can take your bedroom from small and dark to large and bright and is relatively inexpensive to improve. Start by clearing items away from your windows to let as much natural light in as possible, and consider tying back your curtains. Next, think about changing the lampshade or ceiling light fitting for one that allows more directional light, and finally, purchase some new floor lamps and table lamps that will allow you to have more control over the light in your room as you transition from day-to-night.

  1. Redo the floor with rugs

If you have the budget for it, then a new carpet or hardwood floor will definitely elevate your bedroom, but for those who don’t, there are always rugs. Rugs are a great way to hide worn or stained areas of carpet and can add texture and warmth to your bedroom too. Add color and vibrancy with a bright rug, or add softness with something fluffy and you can even layer rugs up together to cover larger floor spaces or to create a more striking effect.

So there you have it, 5 simple ways to transform your bedroom on a budget - do you have any other tips to add?
