Hacienda Del Mar

I must start by talking about the weather.  July in Cabo San Lucas is extremely hot. If you like those types of temperatures, you will love it. If not, I might suggest going to Cabo San Lucas in a more temperate month, such as February to May.

Day One:

Sirena Del Mar

Day One

We secured round-trip transportation to and from the airport with Angel at Caboholics and were extremely pleased with the service. Our flight was nearly two hours late, yet they met us with a smile and got us to our hotel.  One of our favorite places to stay is Sirena del Mar, on the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose.  It is beautiful, fun activities, and best of all, the people who work there are the best!  Ask for a room in buildings one or three as they have the best ocean views!  On our first day, we do some grocery shopping nearby and stock up on some basics.  My husband loves to cook and absolutely loves going into the Mexican markets.  We get settled in our room and, depending on the time, head down to the restaurant to indulge in the delicious ceviche.  Highly recommend along with a premium Margarita!

Day Two:

The Glass Factory

El Huerta

We wake up in time to grab some coffee and head down to the pool to watch the sunrises. In July, they are not quite as gorgeous as they are in the spring, due to their location.  We have breakfast in the condo and then grab an Uber to Cabo San Lucas, where I love to shop at The Glass Factory, LaCoyota, and Eclectic Array.  We have lunch somewhere at the Marina (we try different places), and this time we had tableside guacamole that was so delicious!  Afterwards, we head back to our condo and participate in the painting classes they have.  It is one of our favorite activities to do at the resort. When going through the airport, pack your painted bowls and trays separately so they can be inspected.  You can add them to your luggage after you go through security at the airport.  Dinner was at El Huerto, a farm-to-table restaurant experience that we truly loved.  Most of the food is grown at the large farm. There is nothing like seeing large ripe mangos and then having a dessert made from them.

Day Three

We call this a "Resort Day," and we stay at the resort and attend classes or sit in the pool.  I love to paint so I will take some time to sketch out a page, and if I have time, I will paint it right there!  We also bring books to read, hit the hot tub, and take naps in the condo.  These are some of my favorite days.  Bob will cook light, luxurious lunches, and we will either join other guests for a Mexican Fiesta or a sit-down meal at the restaurant for dinner.  It is such a delightful, restful day.

Day Four

Sunset cruise

Day four started out as another Resort Day, but we booked a sunset cruise for dinner.  We were so pleased with Cabo Mar Fiesta.  The boat ride was lovely with plenty of room, the sunset was so beautiful, and the food was delicious as well.  The drinks poured freely!

Day Five

Hacienda Del Mar

We typically stay exclusively at Sirena Del Mar, but I found an all-inclusive deal to stay three days at Hacienda Del Mar.  So we packed everything up and drove a bit down the corridor to try a new place.  We loved it!  There are many more options for restaurants, high-end ones that took our breath away!  Their lunch and breakfast restaurants include buffets that we highly recommend.  The fruit, breads, and savory dishes were made with care, and there was more than enough food.  We tried many juice blends and coffee drinks that we hadn't had before.  The property is stunning, with a hacienda motif that makes you feel like you are living in history.  The vegetation was incredible, and I took hundreds of photos of the plant life. The best part, though, was the Sea of Cortez and the crashing waves. I could watch them for hours!  We had dinner at Pitahayas, where my husband said he had the best octopus he has ever eaten.

Day Six

Hacienda Del Mar

We shopped in the resort area after breakfast, enjoyed watching the waves and the sea, and had a relaxing massage.  We walked around a bit, but again, it was very hot in July and I was concerned about overheating.  I did a few more sketches.  Lunch was at the buffet and dinner at Des Cortez Grill House, which was so delicious. The presentations of food were creative and beautiful.  We had cocktails at their bourbon bar before dinner.  The bartender got a sense of what you liked, then made a drink for you!  It is fascinating to see the bartenders at work; they really know what they are doing.

Day Seven

Breakfast at the buffet, lunch at the buffet, and dinner back at Pitahayas.  Even though the octopus was so good, my husband tried a different dish, and I had a steak.  It was cooked perfectly!  It was a very relaxing day with time at the pool, in the condo, and walking around the complex.  We discovered a Catholic chapel on the property, but masses had already been said for that day.  We packed and got ready to travel home.

Day Eight

This was a complete travel day, going through customs at Dallas with short layovers that can really wreck your nerves!  We made it home within 15 minutes of the scheduled landing!

We love Cabo San Lucas and have been there eight times over the last ten years.  We introduced our grandson to it when he was an infant, he learned to walk there with the help of the staff (who ask about him whenever we go!), and is learning to be a champion airplane passenger!  We hope our selections help you make great decisions for what you want to do and see when you go!
