Some recipes carry more than flavor, they carry memories. For me, scones will always be tied to moments with my daughter, tiny hands covered in flour, standing beside me at the kitchen counter as we learned, laughed, and baked together.
While her dad and I were fortunate enough to visit the UK many times, she never got to go with us when she was young. But that didn’t stop us from bringing a little bit of Britain home to her. We introduced her to soft, floral Laura Ashley dresses, warm pots of tea, and of course… delicious scones. It became our tradition, one she looked forward to as much as I did.
Cranberry Orange Scones quickly became a favorite—the bright citrus, the tart pop of cranberries, the buttery crumble that tasted like something straight out of a British tearoom. These scones were more than a breakfast treat; they were an invitation to slow down, connect, and savor time together. Looking back, those mornings in the kitchen were some of the sweetest moments of motherhood.
Cooking together as a family has always been our way of sharing joy. It’s woven into our traditions, our celebrations, and our everyday life. Food has an incredible ability to bring people close, and in our home it became the backdrop for conversations, laughter, and memories that will stay with us forever.
These Cranberry Orange Scones are still a favorite in our house—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy afternoon moment with a cup of tea. And every time I bake them, I’m reminded of my daughter in her little Laura Ashley dress, grinning at her “perfectly shaped” scone, and the joy of creating something together.
Some recipes nourish the body—but others nourish the heart.
These scones do both.
