Memorial Day Hamburger Cook Off #8

My family was able to be together again this Memorial Day.  I cherish these times as I have come to realize that things do change, whether you want them to or not.  This year the big change has been Ashley and Eric's move to Chicago last week.  While that is a welcomed change, I think that some of our traditions, this being one, might change when Eric enters the world of work in August.  We've been very fortunate that all of us had have time to get away and be together since we all of us were involved in higher education and had much of the same times off.  It remains to be seen how many traditions will be kept and which will have to go by the wayside.  It's a good thing to be flexible.  We wouldn't have this tradition if things had stayed the same!

On to better subjects:  Our Hamburger Cook Off!  It was the Younger Generation v the Older Generation this year.   The Younger Generation concocted a burger of ground beef, chopped rib meat, monterey jack cheese, cole slaw and   The Older Generation created a burger of ground beef, grilled pineapple, red onion, and a teriyaki mayo.

This year the winner was....  A TIE!

Rib Burger (left) and Hawaiian Burger (right)
Yes, we couldn't declare an official winner this summer.  Even breaking down the points to .25 of a point to... and .75 of a point to... we still ended up a tie!

The side dish of chips and grilled corn completed this year's Cook Off.  So delicious and easy to make.

Grilled corn with lime butter sauce
Number 8 in the books!  If you'd like to see the other winners in past years, you can check them out here!

  1. That sounds like my kind of thing. We are huge burger fiends in our family, so a burger cook off sounds all kinds of awesome.
