Camping at Mark Twain State Park

Our first adventure in our CR-V camper was to Mark Twain State Park.  Check out that adventure here!  Let me tell you about Mark Twain State Park and what you can do there.

Mark Twain State Park and Mark Twain Birthplace are located within 10 miles of one another, which makes this an easy trip to see two things on the Missouri list.

Camping:  The park has 72 camping sites with 21 of them premium electric (meaning 50 amp electric service.) All beautiful, tree-lined sites and some have water views.  Those water view ones snap up quickly when the reservation window opens.  Reservations are taken six months in advance, online here.  Specifically we stayed in the Ray Behrens Area and absolutely loved it.

Amenities:  There are cabins and a boat ramp.  There is a nice beach as well.  There are trails to hike, a visitor's center, and picnic sites.

Our plan was to go see the dam and head over to one of Missouri's remaining covered bridges, the Union Covered Bridge.

Because of Covid-19, we chose to make all our own meals and drinks, so at this time we don't have any restaurant recommendations.  Feel free to ask questions if I didn't cover enough about this beautiful site.  Thanks for reading!  terri@terristeffes.com

  1. OH I love to camp! I am going to attempt to get my husband to add this to our vacation list next year.
