Destination: Trentino-Alto Adige

In this article, we would like to invite you to visit a magnificent place. The country attracts millions of tourists each year. The country with a rich and glorious history. The place where sun and sea meet mountains and woods. Let's take a flight to Italy.

Italy is not just the limpid water around Sardinia island. In the northeast of this fascinating country lovers of mountain hiking and excursions may find a paradise. The region of Italy called Trentino-Alto Adige is famous for its spectacular and enchanting views. Indeed, its scenery seems to come from some film or documentary on National Geographic. It's absolutely impossible to not fall in love with the landscapes of this autonomous province.

Food: What is Trentino Alto-Adige is famous for

Besides spectacular nature, this part of Italy is known to everyone living in Italy for two food products: wine and yogurt. Actually, Trentino-Alto Adige is famous for its cultivation of various fruits such as apples, plums, cherries, apricots, pears, and grapes. In fact, regions making part of this province produce excellent wines: Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Lagrein, Chardonnay, and mythical Gewurztraminer. Thanks to geographical position, the climate is cold in winter and not very hot in summer, compared to the rest of Italy. The Dolomites create a barrier for vineyards and protect cultivation areas.

One more specialty, as mentioned above, is natural and delicious yogurt. The mountains of Trentino are a marvelous place for milk production. Its uncontaminated pastures are a favorable factor for raising cows. There are many companies producing milk and milk derivatives for further distribution of these products throughout the whole country. Such brands as Mila or Vipiteno are adored by children and adults for their quality and taste.

Merano: Castel Trauttmansdorff

Let’s leave the emerald and silent valleys of this province and move to the noisier but not less beautiful part - the town of Merano.

In 1997 in France, a cartoon about Princess Sissi was released firstly. This animated series is dedicated to the Austrian empress Elisabeth von Wittelsbach, called Sissi by her friends. Thus, in Merano, you can admire a splendid Castel Trauttmansdorff where the empress used to stay. Prepare to spend the whole day in that magnificent place that you cannot miss visiting.

Sissi’s Gardens

This area is famous for its extraordinary gardens surrounding the castle. You will be enchanted by the colors of a myriad of different trees and flowers from all over the world. Consider that in 2005 this park was declared the most beautiful in Italy.

The whole area is divided into smaller zones dedicated to various themes:

The Gardens of the Sun: you will see Mediterranean trees such as citrus or pomegranates.

The Woods of the World: by passing through the reconstruction of the Japanese Garden with its bamboo, you will face a waterfall.

Terraced Gardens: from the highest point you can admire the fantastic architecture, labyrinths, and a little pond with Japanese carp and ducks waiting for crumbs.

The Lovers’ Garden: another fairy area of these gardens. Various installations and sculptures are dedicated to the feeling of “love”. You can pass through a kind of passage made of stones to the center part of a little pond where you can sit and relax on the bench unique in its style.

You will be captivated by its magic scenes and atmosphere. After spending hours and hours in this spellbinding place, you are recommended to have dinner at the restaurant located near the pond. And after dinner, you are advised to buy an ice cream.
