Canal Street Cocktail

Happy National Fruits and Vegetables Month!  The Farmers' Markets are bursting with beautiful fruits and veggies. Celebrating fresh fruits and vegetables offers the nicest invitation to have a lovely meal, dessert or cocktail, whether you picked it yourself or grew it from seed.

You might remember that last year I introduced a summer cocktail called The Front Porch Sipper.  In our neighborhood it is common for people to walk through the homes or to sit on your porch and talk to the walkers that stroll by.  The Front Porch Sipper was a perfect cocktail to have around while you chatted with the neighbors.

This year, I would like to introduce the Canal Street cocktail. I named it after the street I live on, with its charms and friendly people. It is full of fresh fruits that will have your taste buds clapping in joy! It is so simple and versatile, that you can make it with all kinds of fruits, whatever happens to be in season.

Canal Street cocktail

serves 4

1 single serving sleeve of Wyler's Pink Lemonade (I use sugar free)
1 c water or pineapple juice
4 c crushed ice
2 oz Ciroc Pineapple Vodka
4 large blackberries
1/4 c blueberries
1 banana (can be a frozen one)
mint

Place all ingredients in the blender and process until all the fruit is smooth. The drink will be creamy and frosty.  Pour into a cocktail glass, garnish with blackberries and mint.

I am looking forward to making these for my friends and family this summer.  It is refreshing and cool, and the name will remind my neighbors of where they got this delicious drink!
