Make Your Home the Coziest in the Neighborhood

With winter firmly in our midst, it's time to pack away the garden furniture, stick the BBQ into storage until next summer, and leap inside ready to spend the season huddled around one another in the living room with no intention of going outside. Sounds great.

The colder months are a time for reconnecting with each other. You see friends and family, the season of good cheer spreads through every household. It's almost total bliss. However, there are ways to make it even better. Everyone dreams of cuddling up around the fire and being as snug as a bug in a rug, and by making your home the coziest in the neighborhood, you can make that a reality.

Endless Warmth

The cold may be rushing and whipping outside, but that doesn't mean the inside of your home should suffer the same. You can immediately make your home the coziest around by warming up parts of the house that are often the most chilly.

Covering exposed wooden floors with rugs gives you something soft and warm to stand on, while slippers placed around the home for you to put on and take off when needed will keep your toes toasty. As for relaxing, you can add huge fluffy blankets and cushions to your sofas to give you something to wrap around yourself during a Christmas movie marathon. Also consider towel warmers, which are fantastic for when you've just climbed out of the shower on a bitter December morning and make it a little easier to get started on your day.

Tying the Room Together

While the temperature is always a surefire way to make your home cozier, so too is the decor. Often, all it takes is one little adjustment here and an addition there that will flood the house with comfortable feelings that make you happy to relax in after a long week.

On weekends, you can consider rearranging the living room or den to make it feel cozier. This could be as simple as placing photos on the bare surfaces to adding a bookcase full of your favorite stories and movies for you to pick out when the mood strikes.

Soft, Supple Light

Harsh fluorescent lights make you feel too much like you're still in the office, so replacing these with soft, energy-efficient alternatives can bring cozy feelings into your home in a matter of seconds. These lights are not as bright and therefore easier on the eyes so you won't get as many headaches.

This makes it easier to wind down at the end of the day and makes getting to sleep at bedtime much more straightforward. If you want to maximize the potential of soft lighting, you can also place scented candles around your room and bask in the glow.

Cozying Up

It's no good spending the entire winter shivering and longing for sunshine and flower blossoms. Instead, you can make sure you are cozy and comfortable every day, no matter what things look like outside. There's something about the cold weather that makes you want to snuggle up and never leave the warmth, and now that's possible.

  1. I love cozy in the winter time. I have found that a scent in my home can make it even more cozy to me and that is why I use my Pink Zebra fragrances. I especially love to walk into a room scented with Flannel Blanket or Toasted Marshmallow. If you don't know about Pink Zebra, you can look at my site here: www.pinkzebrahome.com/cslater
