Most people expect their health to deteriorate as they age, but this doesn't have to be the case. Indeed, by paying attention to some specific issues now, you can help maximize your health later on. Keep reading to find out what these things age.

 

Eat healthily 


There is a reason that we are begging with this one. Yes, it's obvious, but how many of us are dedicated to eating with our health in mind, Probably not enough, as what we eat forms the basis of healthy aging. Instead, a more mindful and sustainable approach to food where nothing is off-limits is likely to be the best approach. Just as long as you include plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and variety in general.

As we get older, being able to move our bodies becomes something of a 'use it or lose it' type situation. That means the less we do it, the more our capacity to stay active decreases. Take care of your teeth 



As humans, we are blessed with two full sets of teeth, during our lifetimes. The first as young children, and then second between 6 -12 years of age. Unfortunately, we don't get any more than two and that means it's worthwhile taking care of the final set we do get. Of course, basic hygiene applies here including brushing after a meal or a sugary snack, as well as flossing regularly.


Be on the lookout for gum disease - bleeding gums are usually the first sign, as these can often be a precursor to other more serious issues such as rheumatoid arthritis or even heart disease.


Regular check-ups after a must as well, and if you wear dentures you need to go to make sure they fit right and are not damaging your other teeth or jaw bone.
