Dinner Cruising in Cabo San Lucas!

One of the best ways to get a true Cabo experience is to board one of the many available sunset dinner cruises. This is a unique way to see Cabo San Lucas and we recommend that you take it!

The Sun Rider Sunset Dinner cruise provides an open bar and a Mexican buffet while cruising the Sea of Cortez.  It's an excellent way to get up close and personal with El Arco, Cabo's famed Arch.  You will also see Land's End, the sea lion colony, Lover's Beach, and in our case, whales!

Since we weren't on a commercial whale-watching cruise, our captain was able to follow the whale's trail for several miles.  Our whales did a lot of blowing and we did see a lot of "tale" but no breeches.  Our Captain was extremely knowledgeable about whales, as was one of the passengers, and between the two of them kept us very well informed.  We easily watched them for 30 or so minutes of our cruise.

We cruised along the coast, around Land's End, in the Sea of Cortez, and into the Pacific Ocean.  The weather was absolutely perfect (Cabo's slogan is "there are no bad days") for a cruise.  There is a roaming photographer who will take your photo at El Arco, or at any time during the cruise.  In the end, we were able to secure three great photos for $20.

Due to Covid the buffet was actually served to us and consisted of chicken skewers, chopped beef, rice and beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, melted cheese and all the cocktails you wanted.  The captain and crew played a lively set of dance tunes and led us in line dances after dinner.  All said and done, the cruise lasted around 2 1/2 hours.  We were on the winter schedule, so we departed at 4:00 and returned around 6:30 p.m.

It was best summed up that we should always find a way to get onto the ocean when we visit Cabo.  This dinner cruise was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beautiful place that is Cabo San Lucas.

(The 2021 cost of our trip was $107 each, which included transportation to and from our hotel, an open bar, dinner, and entertainment.  We were able to snag a 40% discount through our concierge at the hotel. This does not include a tip for the staff at the end.)
