An Impromptu Brunch with MacKenzie Limited

What do you do when you just survived a severe winter snowstorm and you are anxious to see your friends again?  You throw an impromptu brunch and party and do it with the help of Mackenzie Limited. I was so excited to get this party going, and Mackenzie Limited did the hard work by providing the food for this event! It's like having your own private chef.

With all the snow and the gray overcast sky, I decided I need my decor to be bright and sunny.  I had just purchased a gorgeous table runner and napkins from our latest trip to Cabo San Lucas, so that was the inspiration for the party.  I used the runner on my kitchen island to add a pop of color that was visible from our front door.  I used a burlap runner on my dining room table topped with an adorable candle holder I had from Nora Fleming plus colorful tealight candles from PartyLite.  With my table and kitchen island set, I next cleared a space on my bar cart to hold our drinks.  We decided to serve Mimosas and our favorite Bloody Marys at this impromptu brunch. We made simple Mimosas: our favorite orange juice topped with Prosecco and the Bloody Marys were made with a mix with a stalk of leafy celery to stir them with. About half our friends had Mimosas, a couple had Bloody Marys, and the rest just water.

The food came to us well-packed with gel packs.  We had ordered this food in advance to serve to my daughter and son-in-law who were to come in that weekend from Chicago, but the snowstorm kept them from making the trip.  Using the food for my impromptu brunch was a fabulous way of making sure it didn't go to waste!  It was so good, however, that we will have to do this again with our daughter and son-in-law.

Our food choices from Mackenzie Limited were outstanding!  Each came ready to heat or eat, depending on the dish.

Mini Coffee Cakes:  We had the Blueberry Mini Coffee Cakes which looked like tiny bundt cakes. These would be perfect for a shower as well, perfectly portioned for two, and come individually wrapped. These cakes were tender, gently sweet, with a lovely crisp edge.

French Cheese Collection: These cheeses were delicious.  The box came with a 12-month aged Comte cheese, a soft Saint-Nectaire cheese, Camembert, and the double-cream Pave d'Affonois cheese.  The box is nice enough for gift giving or for your table.

Vanilla Bourbon Bacon Pops: Thick smoked bacon with a sweet smoky glaze that was so delicious. Not too thick or thin, this was a treat!  A definite hit at the party.

The Italian Stromboli: Italian bread topped with three different types of meat, spicy pepperoni, salami, and ham, a mixture of sweet peppers, onions, and provolone cheese.  This was heated in the oven and the bread took on a pizza dough-type taste that was simply divine.

Best-Selling Dessert Sampler:  This included two Pineapple Upside Down Cakes (my favorite!) plus two Molten Chocolate Cakes (so chocolatey!) and a Chocolate Cream Swirl Cake that was my guests' favorite.  This cake and the cream were not too sweet and were fantastic straight from the fridge or at room temperature.

Quiche Lorraine: Made from a rich blend of bacon and Swiss cheese, and baked in an egg white custard.  This was very delicious, with a flaky, buttery crust.

The quality of the food was superior.  The portions were generous.  Overall, nine of us ate about $200 worth of product and we had a few leftovers.  With the ease of preparation, a dinner party would become a breeze to host and manage.  The choices are sophisticated but approachable.  I was very impressed by how beautiful the table was with all the food offerings.
