Halloween Craft Pumpkin Light #PinterestChallenge

My Pinterest Challenge this month was such a fun one!  I was inspired by these jack o' lantern outdoor light covers I found at Arts, Crafts and Family.  So cute, so cheap and so easy!  What a great combination.  Our #PinterestChallenge party is hosted by Erlene at My Pinterventures. You should check out the site. So many good crafts and recipes!

To get started I went to my local Dollar Tree. First, I bought my pumpkin buckets from The Dollar Tree. I didn't worry about messing up the project because I only had $2 invested in it. You can find the loot buckets by following this link. This project is so simple, you can see the steps listed below.

Pumpkin Outdoor Light Covers

A cute, fast and easy way to add Halloween decor to the front of your home!
prep time: 2 Mperform time: 18 Mtotal time: 20 M

materials:

  • 2 trick or treat pumpkin buckets
  • pair of strong scissors

tools:

  • a pair of strong scissors

steps:

  1.   Remove the handle from the bucket.
  2.  Make a cut in the back from the top to where the bottom starts.
  3.   Continue to cut around the bottom of the bucket.
  4.   About 3" before where you started, cut back up the back of the pumpkin.
  5.   Discard the bottom and side piece.
  6.   Wrap the outdoor light fixture with the cut pumpkin bucket.
  7.   Adjust as needed.

NOTES:

If your bucket is a cheap one like the ones I used, you may have some splits at the bottom. My first one didn't split but my second one did.
