Paper Casting #PinterestChallenge

This was the perfect month to try ornament making for my November Pinterest Challenge. I'd like to give our host Erlene from My Pinterventures a shout out for organizing us every month. I am making paper casting ornaments, as inspired by LauraJane of After Hours Ink and Flowers.

Paper casting has been around for a long while, but I am new to its world. However, I love it!  It is a quick and easy process but the results are wonderful.  All you need are the rubber stamps, a few squares of toilet paper, water and a dish towel!

Paper Casting Ornaments

How to make paper casting ornaments
prep time: 5 Mperform time: 24 hourtotal time: 24 H & 5 M

materials:

  • Toilet Tissue
  • mold or rubber stamp
  • small container of water
  • dishtowel

tools:

  • no special tools needed

steps:

  1. 1. Tear off 5-6 squares of toilet paper.
  2. 2. Line up the squares.
  3. 3. Lay tissue on top of the mold or stamp (you want the side that you ink)
  4. 4. Gently pour water over the tissue.  The idea is to wet the tissue until it sinks into the mold or stamp.
  5. 5. Using dishtowel, gently blot excess moisture.
  6. 6. Let dry overnight.
  7. 7. Gently peel the dried tissue from the mold.
  8. 8. Trim the ornament with scissors.
  9. 9. Punch a hole and thread with a bit of string or ribbon.
  10. 10. Decorate if desired, using paints, inks, etc but use a very dry brush as to not wet the ornament and lose the shape.

  1. These are cute! I would never have thought that you could wet toilet tissue and make anything from it. If I had rubber stamps, I might try this.
