Moscow Mulette

Welcome to the Skinny Cocktail celebration!  A few bloggers decided to take cocktail recipes and make them into skinnier versions of themselves!

I do love my cocktails and especially a Moscow Mule. The combination of ginger beer, vodka and the refreshing coldness of a copper mug is what does it for me.  There is a great story at how the Moscow  Mule came to be at MoscowMug.  I'll give you the basics, but the real story is quite fun to read!

The Moscow Copper Company in Russia created the mug for the Moscow Mule but was unable to sell the mugs. So Sophie, the daughter of the company's owner, traveled to America with 2,000 of the copper mugs. The mugs didn't sell well here, either, until Sophie walked into the right place at the right time.  That's all I am going to tell you.  💙

Moscow Mulette

A lightened up version of the Moscow Mule, but still refreshing and delicious.
prep time: 5 Mcook time: total time: 5 M

ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 6-8 oz Diet Ginger Ale
  • 1/2  lime, cut into two 1/4 pieces
  • 4-5 mint leaves

instructions:

How to cook Moscow Mulette

  1. In a copper mug, muddle mint.
  2. Add vodka, ginger ale and one of the quarter lime wedges
  3. Add ice.
  4. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.
  5. Set the candied ginger on an ice cube to melt slowly.

NOTES:

I like a lot of lime, so I use two wedges, but you can easily squeeze the lime juice from one wedge into the drink, then garnish the glass with it.

  1. I like the sound of your mulette and I may attempt to make one soon, but I don't have a copper mug so I may have to use a metal insulated mug that I have.
