Occasionally, you crack open a bottle of wine that makes you pause and exclaim, “Ohhh… this is something special.”
Tesoro Della Regina Lugana was one of those bottles for me.
Friends, if you are searching for that perfect summer wine. The one you want stocked in your fridge at all times for porch nights, backyard dinners, beach trips, and impromptu get-togethers with friends. Keep reading. This could be it.
It’s hard to explain how much I love this bottle of wine. Ever since I tasted it, I just can’t stop thinking about it.
Intro to Lugana, Italy
Truthfully, I wasn’t overly familiar with the Lugana region of Italy before tasting this wine. Located in northern Italy near gorgeous Lake Garda, the area is known for sunny weather, lakeside towns, and a leisurely Italian lifestyle. But now that I’ve tasted wine from the region? I’m officially obsessed.
Made predominantly with the Turbiana grape, Lugana wines have this perfect pairing of freshness, softness, minerality, and fruit that feels high-class without being pretentious or overly fussy.
How to describe it? It tastes like what I imagine a leisurely Italian summer afternoon would: bright, clean, crisp, soothing.
What I Loved About Tesoro Della Regina Lugana
Tesoro Della Regina Lugana was bursting with bright fruit and zest, but had a softness that made it delightfully easy to drink. I tasted pear, citrus, white peach, and subtle floral hints with just enough minerality to keep the wine refreshing and well-balanced.
Honestly, what I loved most about this wine was how easy it made me feel. Instead of searching for a reason to pop the cork on this wine, find an occasion. This wine creates an occasion.
Picture yourself:
sharing it with friends on a patio
drinking it next to the pool
bringing it on a picnic
enjoying it after gardening
sipping it on vacation by the sea
toasting with girlfriends over summer book club
There is something about this wine that allows everyday summer nights just seem… a little fancier.
This Wine Loves Summer Foods
Another reason I loved this Lugana wine? How easy it paired with everything I wanted to eat this summer.
From burrata salad to lobster rolls, this California Lugana from Leone swirled around my glass and felt like it was made for sunshine. Here are a few of my favorite summer dishes to serve with Lugana wines:
burrata, tomatoes, and crusty bread
lemon pasta
grilled shrimp or salmon
charcuterie boards
chicken salad sandwiches or croissants
fresh strawberries
seafood pasta salads
herb roasted chicken
anything you’d take on a picnic nestled under a tree
Oh and did I mention how much I want to drink this wine whilst sitting on a blanket eating dinner al fresco? With a linen napkin and fresh flowers? Yes please.
A Summer Picnic Bottle
For anyone who loves creating care-free but beautiful summer moments I highly recommend this wine for your next picnic. Grab a bottle and try it for yourself!
Fill a wicker basket with:
crusty tomato bread
cheese and grapes
fruit
chilled Lugana
find a shady spot to relax outdoors
This Californian Lugana from Leone made me feel Relaxed. Elegant. Sunny. Easy. Happy.
Serving Suggestions
Tesoro Della Regina Lugana is best served chilled. Around 45–50 degrees. Cool enough that it feels crisp and refreshing on a hot summer day, but not quite cold enough to hide those beautiful fruity and floral aromas.
And here’s a tip from me to you:
Buy two bottles.
Because once folks take a sip of this wine, they will want more.
You’ll Love Lugana Wines
Friends, I have a feeling that Lugana wines are going to become really popular. Like, everyone talking about them and scooping them up at the store popular.
The reason?
These wines feel like a secret that nobody knows about. But once you take that first sip, you’ll want to tell everyone.
It’s:
fresh, yet smooth
elegant, yet not stuffy
interesting, but never complicated
If I had to guess, I would say that Lugana wines are going to be the next big trendy alternative to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. At least in my house they are.
When I tasted Tesoro Della Regina Lugana, I immediately fell in love, and now I can’t wait for you all to try it too. Cheers!
